Celebrating a Century: UND's Legacy of Nursing
"We are family" ... Here at the UND College of Nursing we believe that alumni, faculty, staff and current students are all part of the success of this great educational institution.
This fall, the College of Nursing will be turning 100 and it's time to celebrate our achievements! We are planning a CON "family reunion" for Homecoming 2009 and we want you to attend! This will be an opportunity to reconnect and reminisce with old friends, to get reacquainted with beloved professors, and to visit the new and improved College of Nursing and UND campus.
Our theme for the event is, "Celebrating a Century: UND's Legacy of Nursing." We hope you will come and join us for a variety of fun-filled events to be held October 1-3rd, 2009.
Below is information about the Gala. As additional information is made available it will be posted here, so please visit this page often for the latest updates.
Four-fold purpose of the Gala:
- Celebrate nurses and the invaluable contributions they make to the healthcare profession.
- Recognize the dedication of nurse faculty, preceptors and mentors in their efforts to strengthen, enhance and move the nursing profession forward.
- Raise funds to provide additional scholarship support for both students and faculty.
- Educate community members on the level of care and contributions nurses make to their well-being.

- Personal Updates
- We would love to hear what you've been up to since graduation! Please put together an update - family, work, hobbies, professional accomplishments/honors, etc. Be sure to include your email and phone number so we can keep in touch. Your update will be compiled with others from your class and submitted to the CON. A college-wide compiled document will be available for a nominal purchase at the Gala celebration.
- Send your personal updates to your class chair no later than July 31, 2009. Not sure who your class chair is? Click on the appropriate "decade page" to find out.Or you can fill out this form and submit it electronically to the College.
- Sign up for your class listserv
- Please sign up - this is the quickest and easiest way for us to keep you updated on plans for the Gala. It's the perfect way for you to stay in touch with your classmates, you will be able to email one another back and forth!
- Stories and memories bring history to life. To help us celebrate we ask nursing students, alumni and friends to submit favorite memories stories and photos. Submissions will be posted on the website and at the Gala for everyone to enjoy. Send submissions to beckycournia@mail.und.edu

- Tour the UND campus
- Ralph Engelstad Arena
- Tours of Ralph Engelstad Arena are given at 1:30 pm Monday - Friday. "Tour Goers" should meet in the Sioux Shop for the start of the tour. To schedule a tour, contact the Sioux Shop at (701) 777-6636. The cost per person is $3.00 and discounts are given to larger groups. No tours are given on event days.
- Visit the UND Wellness Center
- Scheduled tours provide the best experience. To schedule a tour, please call CarrieHerrig at carrieherrig@mail.und.edu or 777-4864.
- Self-guided tours are also available if you are unable to call ahead and schedule something. You will just need to stop at the Welcome Desk when you arrive at the Wellness Center
- Check out the Grand Forks Convention and Visitors Bureau for hotel, restaurant and shopping information
What to expect once you get here
- Where to register for Gala
- When you arrive in Grand Forks there will be two options for event check-in, either Thursday, Oct 1 or Friday, Oct 2. We urge you to check-in early to avoid congestion the evening of the event.
- At the College of Nursing (430 Oxford St.) - Thursday, October 1 between 3-6:00pm. Tours of the College of Nursing will also be available during this time.
- At the Alerus Center - Friday, Oct 2 beginning at 10:00am
