Estimated Costs

Tuition and Fees
Ttuition and mandatory university fees for graduate students may be found on the Student Account Services website at www.und.edu/dept/studentaccounts/html/tuitionrates.htm

Professional Program Fee
A Professional Program Fee of $1000 each semester (subject to change) for the Nurse Anesthesia Specialization students applies to part-time, full-time, resident, or non-resident Nurse Anesthesia students. The Professional Program Fees for the Nurse Anesthesia Specialization are not pro-rated for part time students, however tuition is. Program fees are used for such things as full-body patients and simulation, up-to-date technology, anesthesia equipment, travel and communication expenses, and instructional and techical support.

Financial Assistance
Traineeships for students include the Advanced Education Nurse Traineeship (AENT), which is available to 1st year students in a graduate nursing specialization, and the Nurse Anesthesia Taineeship funded by the federal government are available to 2nd year students. Textbook Fees
Students will be required to purchase required textbooks for the nurse anesthesia program. Typical book fees cost approximately $1300.

AANA Student Associate Membership Fee
Students are required to become an associate member of the AANA (American Association of Nurse Anesthetists). The current cost for membership is $100 and includes a subscription to the AANA Journal and AANA News Bulletin. Costs are subject to change.

Certification Examination Fee
Program graduates are required to write a Certification Examination administered by the Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists. This exam is required for all graduates to enter practice as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, regardless of which nurse anesthesia program you attend. The current (2007) exam fee rate is $700.

Anesthesia Review Courses
The UND Nurse Anesthesia Specialization provides a review course for graduating students to help them prepare for the Certification examination. Often students will attend an additional review course that is not associated with the University of North Dakota. All expenses incurred for these additional review courses are optional and at the expense of the student.

Professional RN Licensure Fee
Students are required to obtain and maintain current RN licensure.

Health Insurance Fee
Students are required to maintain and provide proof of health insurance coverage. The student is responsible for these costs.

Educational Meetings
Students are required to attend two state anesthesia meetings per year. Financial support may be available to students from the North Dakota Association of Nurse Anesthetists as well as from the University Nurse Anesthesia program. The student may incur some minor expenses for travel to these meetings.

Clinical Rotation Expenses
Students will rotate between two or more clinical affiliate sites for the clinical component of their education. Students often share information regarding housing opportunities at these various sites. Relocation expenses, living expenses, and travel expenses will be incurred by the student. Students often receive discounted meal rates at the various clinical affiliate sites.

Clinical Data Tracking System
A clinical case tracking system is untilized for case entry, evaluations and care plans. Students are responsible for the monthly cost of this case-tracking system. Estimated cost to the student is $7.50/month for the duration of the program.
