Welcome to the UND FNP website! Our masters track builds on the over 40 years of successful implementation of the nurse practitioner role in the United States. Nurse practitioners have arrived and become vital members of health care teams all over the country. The jobs are there and the need is acute in areas like the Northern Plains which are mostly rural.
The UND College of Nursing FNP offering is strong scientifically and friendly academically. Students participate in instruction in traditional classrooms on campus and online. As more and more of the curriculum has become available online, passing rates on national certification exams have remained exceptionally high. Physician and nurse practitioner preceptors in the close to 700 hour clinical practicums help students develop diagnostic reasoning and clinical problem solving skills, further honed by faculty in weekly discussions using the most up to date conference technology. See: http://www.nursing.und.edu/computer.cfm for information about the equipment you will need in order to participate in online courses.
The UND FNP coursework prepares graduates for positions in primary care. Graduates are working in a variety of settings using this preparation. As you look forward in your career, choose a route to certification in the specialty which best meets your interests. If you’re even questioning whether the FNP track is right for you, call or e-mail one of us. We love to talk about nurses expanding their roles and moving on! |
