Doctor of Nursing Practice Degree - Online Program
with Master's Conferment Option
Provide patient-focused primary care to patients across the lifespan with a special focus on serving the healthcare needs of rural residents.
Family Nurse Practitioners assess patients, order and interpret diagnostic tests, establish diagnoses and initiate and manage treatment plans, including prescribing medications. At UND you will spend clinical time in both primary and specialty care settings learning to provide high quality acute, chronic, and preventive care to patients across the lifespan, and have the opportunity to earn a master’s degree while pursuing your DNP degree.
The Doctor of Nursing Practice degree course of study is nine semesters, which includes three summer sessions. The program requires 91 total credits and more than 1000 practicum hours to complete. A master's degree conferment is available after completing 57 credits, allowing students to sit for the national certification exam while continuing to pursue their doctoral degree.
Completed applications that are received by January 15 are given priority for fall admission. Application period closes April 1. Enrollment is limited.
Students are required to come to campus once in each of 5 semesters during the program. During that time, they will participate in traditional lectures, hands-on lab, simulation and clinical examinations.
UND Nursing programs ascribe to the College of Nursing & Professional Disciplines Mission Statement found at About CNPD
